Mental Habits

It‘s funny that the moment you go on holiday, you notice your thought patterns changing. Even on the airplane, you look outside and you get that feeling of yearning, of wanting to run off into the wild to experience an adventure.

Often, I feel my whole organism relax when I go on holiday. It‘s as if a mental load falls off my back and I start to breathe in the air of relaxation, that seemingly changes the constitution of my blood into a substance that gives me the equivalent of a Mario Kart invincible star item. Or in other words, a great sense of being and energy.

When I ponder this, it becomes so obvious to me: I am not only taking a break from work and my home; I‘m also taking a break from my mental habits. The habits of working, householding and all the other worldly things we do as routines everyday. And it becomes more clear to me, that I forget to go on adventures and take moments to reflect in everyday life; that non-conformity in various ways can help to become a factor of quality of life in a way that enriches my being and sense of joy in life.

So, let this be a reminder for myself in future to go outside, to do what I don‘t usually do, and to sit down and reflect more, to take a conscious break from my routines. It‘s totally worth it. :)
